Are modern day people losing their sense of Irish pride ?

I have just been to Ireland (traveled from Donegal and Sligo through the midlands into Cork & Kerry and later Dublin) and actually observed the opposite, namely that the Irish pride of "traditional things" as you call them was not just a tourist bluff (because it surely sells well), but seriously is part of Irish culture and nature. Not many nations have so many wonderful traits to show for so I would be proud too to be Irish (if I was).
