Discectomy, good results anyone?

I only have 1 lumbar disk remaining in place. I have so much crap banging off my sciatic nerve, I have little feeling in my feet. Otherwise I am in excellent physical condition. Neurologist thinks a discectomy is the answer, I just want to see if anyone has had any experience god or bad. I am doing the pain killer bit right now, I am not cut out for it. They are effective, but I build immunity fast and I can tell it will be a vicious cycle to continue. Too bad there is not an "anti-immunity" pain killer....There is one for the folks in genetic research!
