Truth vs happiness, in relation to working with other people?

I witnessed this same scenario for more than 5 years. I was in a line of management that did not ever feel the brunt of this individual. In my 50 years of working, I have only encountered a few "poison personalities". There is one and only one solution as long as that individual is supported by higher management. That is to leave. They are a poison to you and your work. If they are known outside the firm, your time there can work to your advantage in that such persons, if the they are in the same line of work, sympathize with you and will aid and make allowances for your escape. i.e. they know where you're coming from.
