Don't you think this kind of thinking is dangerous for US security and the entire world?

I agree with you that military engagement should never be the first course of action in such matters. We absolutely should engage Iran in a direct diplomatic dialogue before anything else. But... a fundamentalist Islamic state must never be allowed to possess nuclear weapons. If reasonable diplomatic efforts are insufficient, we must take action to remove Iran's ability to employ such weapons. Not that idiotic, bloody, and ultimately futile regime change and occupation like we're doing in Iraq. But targeted bombing of Iranian military installations and suspected military research and manufacturing facilities. Military containment without ground troops. I hope it won't come to that but I suspect it will. Religious zealots are not reasonable, rational people.
