Does a man have to be married to get a vasectomy?
Absolutely not. We have plenty of patients in many different situations. The doctor usually gives a 30-day "waiting period" just to be sure the patient does not change his mind. They ask you repeatedly if you are very sure about this decision and if you understand that this is a procedure to keep you from EVER having children. And you do have sign a consent form that states that you understand the risks, benefits, indications, and complications of vasectomy. Yes, in some cases it can be reversed but they never do a vasectomy in the first place unless the patient is very clear about the permanency of it.
